WLC Uplifting Community

Beyond providing professional development opportunity, WLC has made a lasting contribution to the Las Vegas community through philanthropic support.

In its early years WLC proceeds after costs were donated to the nonprofit foundations of the Las Vegas American Indian, Asian, Latin and Urban Chambers of Commerce, and later The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada also, to subsidize student scholarship programs and other charitable initiatives.

After the nonprofit MGM Resorts Foundation assumed sponsorship of WLC, the focus of the conference’s charitable giving moved to nonprofit organizations that serve women and/or girls in the Las Vegas community.

In keeping with WLC’s strong tradition of supporting nonprofit agencies that serve the needs and interests of women and/or girls, if possible FWLE will donate a portion of any proceeds after costs of every WLC to such nonprofits, along with use of funds to support FWLE operations or other leadership development programs.

NORMA INTIAGO
Executive Director Dress for Success Southern Nevada

"Professional development is particularly important for women, to help dismantle gender inequity in the workplace and wage disparity. When women of all walks of life, ethnicity, incomes and industries are able to come together, participate in a professional development conference and expand their network of influence, women are just as likely as men to get promoted and grow in their careers. That’s the power of the Women's Leadership Conference. Dress for Success [DFS] Southern Nevada's partnership with the FWLE helps accelerate women’s careers and democratize networks, and diversify the talent pipeline. Lack of sponsorship is one indicator of what’s really been holding many women back — exclusion from organizations’ most influential networks. FWLE’s sponsorship of DFS clients gives access to powerful networks, providing impressive benefits to leaders, high-performing employees, and organizations themselves."

Vice President
SafeNest

“The SafeNest leadership team looks forward to this event every year. It’s empowering and inspiring to be in a room with so many visionary, exceptional women; and, it’s a great testament to ‘girl power.’ Not only is our agency almost always represented on the guest list, we’ve been the fortunate recipient of philanthropic support – one hundred percent of which helped fund innovative, trauma-informed services designed to rebuild shattered lives. We’re truly grateful to participate and partner with the annual Women’s Leadership Conference and look forward to being a part of next year’s event.”
